What Is Fraxel?

Fraxel uses microscopic laser columns to penetrate the skin at precise depths, creating thousands of controlled treatment zones while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This triggers the skin's natural repair process, replacing damaged cells with new collagen-rich tissue from within. The result is meaningful improvement in skin quality, texture, and tone that develops progressively over the weeks and months following treatment.

Because Fraxel targets the deeper layers of the skin rather than just the surface, it is effective on concerns that surface-level treatments cannot fully address including deep lines, established sun damage, and scarring.

What It Helps With

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Stimulates deep collagen production to soften lines and improve overall skin firmness
  • Sun Damage and Pigmentation: Addresses sunspots, uneven tone, and the textural changes caused by long-term UV exposure
  • Acne Scarring: Remodels scar tissue at depth for a significant improvement in the texture of acne-affected skin
  • Skin Texture: Smooths rough, uneven, or thickened skin for a more refined and even surface
  • Overall Skin Quality: Improves tone, elasticity, and radiance in skin that has undergone significant ageing or environmental damage

Fraxel delivers thousands of microscopic laser columns into the skin, each creating a controlled column of heat that damages a fraction of the tissue while leaving the surrounding skin intact. This fractional approach triggers the body's wound-healing response in each treated zone, stimulating the production of new collagen and replacing damaged cells with healthy tissue. Because only a fraction of the skin is treated at any one time, recovery is faster than with fully ablative lasers while still delivering meaningful structural improvement beneath the surface.

Not necessarily. During the procedure, most patients describe a sensation of heat and prickling. Immediately after, the skin may feel warm and tight, similar to a moderate sunburn. Discomfort is generally well-managed and resolves within the first day or two.

Both are fractional lasers, but they work at different depths and intensities. Clear + Brilliant targets the superficial layers of the skin and is well suited to maintenance, prevention, and mild concerns with minimal recovery time. Fraxel penetrates deeper and delivers more significant collagen remodelling, making it the stronger option for established lines, scarring, and sun damage.

Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 to 4 weeks beforehand. Pause retinol, exfoliating acids, and any prescription actives for 5 to 7 days prior.
